Newborn Photography: Prepare Your Newborn for It

newborn photographyHow can one learn to prepare their newborn for the session? And what does need so that their newborn is ready to show off their cute and stay calm throughout the whole newborn photography session?

Maybe you’ve heard that there are some newborn sessions that last up to 4 hours and imagining that you have to go for a photography session that long right after your delivery may prove to be tiring for you. So, let’s read on and make sure that you can make yours as smooth as possible!

Sleeping baby

The first thing you need to understand is that sleeping newborn baby is the best thing any photographer can ask for. That’s because your baby will become easier to move, pose and shape. Loud babies make movements and even endanger themselves. So, the first thing you need to remember doing is to make your baby enjoy his sleeping time during the photography. How?

Keeping the baby fed and full help encourage the sleepy behavior. That’s baby’s job anyway, to be full, and to have as much rest as possible. The best time to feed them would be around the time before the photography. While most photographers will tell you to have your baby fed 30 minutes ahead, you’re the mother and you might know the best time to feed the baby.

Don’t be too nervous

This mostly refers to when you’re still pregnant and waiting for your baby to be born. Remember that there’s a big possibility that your baby won’t be born on due date. So, rather than being nervous during then (although you can’t help), ready baby needs so that you won’t have to fumble too much after delivery.

Your newborn photography provider must have given you enough range of time to wait, like what does. This is because you will have to contact your photographer after delivery immediately to schedule a time as soon as possible. Your chance to get some cute newborn pictures are limited to just a few days now.

Wear something nice

The purpose of putting ‘nice’ is to tell you that there’s no need to wear something too fancy, but also to wear something that is not too lousy. You’ll be taking part in the photography, so something that is plain white or black always do great.

The photography most of the time make use of black & white once or twice in the session, so plain colors do great. The photography focuses on the plain, innocent and new life of your newborn, so no need to be dressed is something shiny or wear any pieces of jewelry at all.

Just enjoy your time!

And the most important thing you need to do lastly is to enjoy your time! The session will feel longer than it actually is if you cannot find yourself enjoying the whole process. If you’re tired, ask for the photographer is there’s any drink you can have.

If you are other kids coming over, be sure to remember bringing their toys along. They will also have to bear waiting for the long process of the newborn photography.

Avoiding Disappointment In Your Newborn Photography

A newborn baby photo is a treasure.

newborn photographyIt is a precious memorabilia of your child. Without a doubt, new parents love having their newborn babies photograph. They will pay an arm and a leg just to get those golden shots. However, sometimes parents will be disappointed when they see the newborn baby photos. Some pictures contain their baby making an ugly face for the camera while others are simply too blurry. This is definitely not worth the huge wad of cash you paid for. You may blame the newborn baby photographer for the mess, but sometimes you, the client, may also be a cause for these little disappointments. There are certain things you need to do in order to avoid the creating disappointing newborn photography.

Firstly, you need to prepare your newborn baby.

The baby needs to be in the optimal condition when doing the photography. They need to be cooperative and not fussy. A fussy baby will prolong the shoot as well as make it hard for the newborn baby photographer to do the shoot. This is the reason for those blurry pictures we talked about earlier. To avoid this, make sure you cater to all the needs of the infant.

Feed the baby before the photography to avoid cries of hunger.

A hungry baby will cry, and we don’t want that for the newborn photography. You should also make sure that the newborn baby is free from any illnesses. It would be best to consult with your physician whether or not your newborn infant is physically okay to do the shoot. Don’t worry, 99.9% of the time your physician will give you the go signal. If everything is okay, go ahead and proceed with the pictorial.

Secondly, make sure you practice time management.

It wouldn’t be right if the whole newborn photography took up all day. Both you and your baby will be burned out if this happen. Usually, the photo session will not last more than 2 hours. The first hour or so would usually be preparation stage and the second would be the actual shoot. Thus, you must learn to budget your time to not exceed this time limit. No one wants to wait long for their picture to be taken. This includes your little angel. Set a time frame for every action. Avoid wasting time by being late for the shoot schedule. We don’t want to rush the photography session. After all, rushed photographs rarely look okay.

Lastly, avoid dominating the session.

Sometimes parents think that they should be the one to direct the photo session since it is their newborn being photographed. The thing is, it isn’t your responsibility to direct the session. It is the photographer’s. He has the experience and knowledge when dealing with newborn photography. Thus, it would benefit the entire shoot if you left the work to them. You can always share or voice out an opinion. You can even throw in a couple of suggestions. But please, let the photographer do his work. Allow him to take the reins. Without a doubt, he will give you those adorable newborn photos you’ve always wanted.
